A DAY ON BURLINGTON'S PINE STREET

Pine Street is where Burlington’s creative heartbeat lies.

A former industrial corridor that houses the South End Arts District, breweries, old brick factories, artist studios, small food producers and more, Pine Street is a hub of creativity.

If you are interested in a gallery hop, a pint from a local brewer, or a slow wander through maker spaces, step down Pine Street and step into the city’s most vibrant blend of past and present.

Here is our recommendation for a visit to Pine Street:

First up - Breakfast buns, coffee and some strolling

Swing into the Soda Plant (266 & 270 Pine Street) for some breakfast, coffee, a little bit of snacking, and a lot of art. First, hit up Brio Coffeeworks for a cup of local coffee that is roasted on site – we recommend one of their seasonal drink specials. Then, head right next door to Haymaker Bun Company for a breakfast bite, either one of their unique buns or a sandwich. After your morning fuel up, wander through the halls of the Soda Plant where you can check out everything from locally made pickles from Pitchfork Pickle, jewelers like Jennifer Kahn and Rackk & Ruin, and local artists like Katharine Montstream and Charlotte Dworshak. End your visit at Thirty Odd – an eclectic art and gift shop.

Next stop - Vintage spots, bread and wine

The next stop should be Barge Canal Market, a vintage-treasure hunt of a shop where you could find everything from a new living room furniture set to a cute holiday ornament. For those who love a dusty bookshop, step into Speaking Volumes for a floor-to-ceiling used book collection for hours of browsing. Spend some time exploring before popping across the street to Great Harvest Bread Co. for a sandwich – made with their own homemade bread. Or pop into La Reprise for a bottle of wine or snacks from their shop. You can wander through AO Glass to check out glassblowing in action and swing through art studios in the old factory buildings for some art-inspired browsing.

Swing into - Signature scents

Up next - Sun, sand and surfing

Take a break from shopping to wander around Oakledge Park. You can roll or stroll along the bike path, bring a suit and go swimming or bring the kids for some fun on the playground. If you are interested in getting out on the water, stop by the Burlington Surf Club where you can rent stand up paddle boards.

Last stop - Creeemees, donuts, and beers

After an afternoon on the water, head back up Pine Street to the Beer Hall at Zero Gravity and grab some dinner and a beer to toast the evening. We recommend the Fried Chicken Sandwich or the Detroit-Style Coney Dogs, along with a Cone Head, but there are plenty of choices on their menu. Finish off the day with a treat at Mr. Creemee before heading back to Hotel Vermont.
