We have partnered with CQ Strategies to guide us in this continued learning, helping us actively reflect on and challenge unconscious biases and micro-aggressions, and develop action steps for growth. All team members participate in frequent trainings developed by CQ Strategies. Our internal DEI&B Committee meets monthly to reflect on our progress.

SUSTAINABILITY

Hotel Vermont was built with sustainability in mind. We love where we live, and we want to treat it as such. We are an independent, LEED-certified, and locally owned hotel that cares deeply for our community, guests, and the home we all inhabit.

As is the nature of Hotel Vermont, we believe an authentic Vermont experience requires engaging with and supporting the local community. On top of providing guests with depth of experience, sourcing products locally reduces our footprint while providing us the opportunity to get to know our partners and their business practices. During your stay, be sure to use Jeremy Ayers mugs, sip Brio coffee, ride Budnitz bicycles, wash off with Lunaroma and Ursa Major bath products, and stop into Juniper to taste some of the local meat, cheeses, and produce from our Vermont Farm friends.

Our cross-departmental Green Team is constantly learning and seeking new ways to improve our practices and encourage our guests to do so as well. Beginning with an audit and development plan from a team from University of Vermont’s Sustainable Innovation MBA, we have implemented a series of initiatives to improve our footprint.

In 2022, we partnered with the Sustainable Innovation MBA Program at University of Vermont to audit our existing practices and outline initiatives for progress. An internal cross-departmental Green Team has been formed to ensure that this plan is carried through following our work with SIMBA, meeting monthly. Please see our current sustainability initiatives for further detail.

There is constant room for growth and reflection around our sustainable practices. We are committed to uncovering areas of improvement, to progress, and to learning alongside our community to help keep the earth clean and green. We hope to encourage travel and exploration with as little environmental impact possible.

Female Founders Speaker Series
Entering our 7 Season, this series teams up with Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies to host panel discussions of local women leading in their fields.

#drinkitforward Fundraising Campaign
Spearheaded by our Bar Manager Kate Wise, our monthly #drinkitforward initiative donates $1 per drink sold to a local nonprofit relating to BIPOC & LGBTQ+ causes.

Hotel Vermont Holiday Market
Encouraging the community to uplift the local small businesses around the holidays.

NAMI Vermont 
Hosted fundraisers and event collaborations surrounding topics of mental health.

CQ Strategies
Leads the Hotel Vermont team in trainings and discussions around topics of diversity, equity, & inclusion.
