Time to head south! Get in your car and go for a scenic drive off of Route 7 with some of our favorite spots along the way. Find your way to Spear Street by way of Main Street to begin your drive out of Burlington.

Philo Ridge Farm
Start your day with a delicious breakfast outdoors at Philo Ridge Farm. Homemade pastries and coffee can be ordered at their take-out window in addition to egg custard breakfast sandwiches, salads and more. It’s one of our favorite ways to start a summer Saturday in Vermont. Say hi to the sheep and go home with farm & market goodies for later.

Rokeby Museum – Vermont African American Heritage Trail
Continue south to the Rockeby Museum on the Vermont African American Heritage Trail. Right off of Route 7 in Ferrisburgh, the museum aims to inform those who travel it of “the enduring contributions of Vermonters of African heritage and the role of white Vermonters in both Vermont and American civil rights history.”

Rokeby is among the best-documented Underground Railroad sites in the county, one the National Park Service has described as: “unrivaled among known sites for its historical integrity and the poignancy of the stories it tells.”

Kingsland Bay State Park
Continue down Route 7 and turn down Little Chicago Road to Hawkins Road to find parking on Town Beach Road. The drive itself is beautiful, let alone the actual park. Don’t forget to look up on Hawkins Road…

Kingsland Bay is one of our favorite escapes. Talk a walk and don’t forget your swimsuit for a nice dip in Lake Champlain along the way.

Vermont Cookie Love
After your walk, get back on Route 7 and head north. Pull over for a creemee at Vermont Cookie Love before heading home. It’s one of our favorite creemees and definitely worth a stop! The maple/coffee creemee twist or a cookie-wich (with their famous cookies!) are crowd favorites.

Heading home
Interested in heading home the back way? From Cookie Love, take an immediate right onto Old Hollow Road and take the first left onto Mt. Philo Road. Veer right onto Spear Street and left on Guinea Road (our favorite part). At the end of Guinea take a left and then your first right to get back on Mt. Philo Road. This will bring you to the center of Shelburne. Take a right at the stop lights. Route 7 will take you all the way back to Burlington.
