Starter Initiative 7: The Long Haul

Wednesday, September 9th 2020

Help be the Grain for Change!

We are thrilled to be partnering with Starter! A social justice bakery recognizing donations to the Civil Rights movement.

By donating to Starter’s Initiative 7 you can enjoy freshly baked bread while supporting your Vermont community. Jacob Tischler will be baking bread out of our oven on Tuesday, September 8th with bread pickup on Wednesday, September 9th at Brick!

COVID isn’t going away anytime soon. BIPOC communities will continue to be disproportionately affected by the pandemic. With the help of our wood-fired oven, Starter is raising $6000 over 6 weeks for 3 organizations, and to fully fund our their permanent masonry oven.

Starter’s three beneficiaries will be Committee on Temporary Shelter , New Farms for New Americans Vermont, and Boys and Girls Club of Vermont, who will each receive $1000. The remaining $3000 will be used to cover building/baking expenses and compensate the indelible Thea Alvin for her time and mastery.

To help, please follow Starter’s two-step process by donating through GoFundMe, and filling out your Google Order Form as prompted. Donate here and pick up your bread & pastry order at Brick Outdoor Wood-fired Kitchen & Bar on Wednesday, September 9th!

This is Starter’s biggest initiative yet in an effort to move towards sustainability and consistency. Starter thanks you in advance for getting them there, and for being the Grain for Change.
