A celebration to benefit the Tom Sustic Fund!
Mardi Gras, also called Shrove Tuesday, is French for ‘Fat Tuesday’, reflecting the practice of the last night of partying, dancing and eating food before the ritual fasting on Ash Wednesday.
Enjoy Cajun food & drink while dancing the night away with live music from Yankee Chank, Big Night, & Ponyhustle.
The bar is sponsored by The Alchemist & Shelburne Vineyard.
The event benefits the Tom Sustic Fund, which was established to support a bone marrow transplant, generated through a series of benefit events in 1999 and 2000 featuring a wide variety of well-known performers. After several bone marrow drives and monitoring and searching on registries in North America and Europe, an ideal donor was not located. After Tom’s death in 2001, the funds were re-purposed as on-going support for families with children with life-altering conditions at UVM Medical Center and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
The Fund is managed and distributed by the Vermont Family Network. Comments from Dr. Alan Homans, Dr. Fred Holmes, Dr. Lewis First and Pam McCarthy from the Vermont Family Network, all with personal connections to Tom’s treatment and medical care, and use of the Fund, will address the importance of the Fund to children and their families.
With support from UVM Medical Center & Vermont Family Network.
