Poppy will be a breakfast and lunch cafe based in the Old North End in Burlington. Originally conceptualized as a hybrid between a coffee shop and general store, Poppy aims to be a gathering space for the neighborhood, a go-to spot for a quality meal, a resource and partner for community groups, and a space where people feel at home. Owned and operated by sisters Emily and Abby Portman, Poppy seeks to utilize local, seasonal ingredients to create vegetable forward, nourishing meals.Cafe Mamajuana is a Dominican & Sicilian fusion café, market and bar opening up in fall of 2020. CM is the one and only spot to grab glorified bodega style meals and market goods in our region. A corner store meets tapas bar right in the heart of the Old North End. At Café Mamajuana we strive to create a safe space for all, and a nostalgic hub for the Afro Latinx, refugee and immigrant communities living within Vermont. Owned and operated by Chef Maria Lara Bregatta, CM intends to channel ancestral love, nourishment, and the culinary expressions of our DNA into Mama our 88 Oak Street Cooperative space.

Together we present you a mixture of Café Mamajuana and Poppy — making our debut as “Mama & Pops”
