We asked a few members of our team at Hotel Vermont to share their favorite spots in the area to help you make the most of your time in Burlington.

SARAH

Where’s the best sandwich in town? I love Poppy Café in the North End! Their menu is changing all the time, and they have some of the most creative combinations you can’t find anywhere else. And their focaccia…

Your go-to stop for a great cocktail? Mule Bar in the Winooski Circle! The beverage list has a great mix for all and they have a great cocktail program. Sitting on the patio on a warm summer evening can’t be beat.

Favorite brewery in town? Spending time with friends or catching live music at Foam is my favorite. Give Things I Imagine a try while you’re there – it’s an IPA brewed on pineapples. Pavement is another staple on their list.

Ideal Tuesday afternoon downtown? Dinner at POCO, grab a Maple Raspberry twist creemee from Burlington Bay and walking along the waterfront for sunset

Jazmin

Go-to foliage hike? Sterling Pond! There’s a pond at the top and, a few steps further, a great view from the top of a ski lift. If you have a dog, it’s a great one to bring them along on!

It’s raining. What do you do in Burlington? Head to some galleries! BCA Gallery on Church St. is open to the public and has rotating exhibits of local artists.

What do you love about working here? Being part of the team! And I have a lot of love for Burlington. Working at the front desk, I’m able point our guests to my favorite spots in town that make me love living here so much. It creates a genuine and authentic experience!

KALANI

What’s your favorite season in Vermont?
Shocker – fall. There’s a reason people travel far to see the colors. And the wardrobe – layers, a good flannel. It’s predictable, quintessential Vermont in the best way.
It’s Sunday and you want brunch. Where are you headed?
Café HOT. The Number 8 has a chicken fried egg!
Favorite summer activity?
Mountain biking. I love to drive over to Stowe, but when I want a more leisurely ride on two wheels, the bike path to the Causeway never disappoints.

Give us a Burlington local secret. Stop by Istanbul Kebab House when they open at 11 am. The Turkish coffee in the morning is the best. It’s small, but strong and flavorful. Grab an almond pudding on the side.

What are some other go-to’s in a nearby city or town? Check out Montpelier. A stop by Positive Pie is a must.

A fun fact about yourself, perhaps? I really love airports. I’ll admit I’m not entirely disappointed if my flight is delayed. I’ll grab a decent meal, pop into shops, find a seat with a good book.

Mon

Where can we find you on your days off? When the weather is nice in the summer, my family and I love to go fishing! The Winooski River and a few spots in Waterbury are our favorite places to go.

What do you enjoy most about working here? The team. When I need a day off, I know I can count on the others to step in and make sure everything get done – and done well. Everyone, from my team to the Westport team, has been so supportive. This is the first job I’ve had since moving to the United States, and I haven’t left! That was in 2013. Hotel Vermont feels a bit like home now.
