May 6 - Vermont Symphony Orchestra Masterworks

Join your Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s final Masterworks performance of the season as they close with a note of love. Music Director Jaime Laredo begins the evening with Ligeti’s Concert Romanesc, followed by the familiar Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet Overture – Fantasy. Closing the evening’s performance, the VSO welcomes soloist Nokuthula Ngwenyama on the viola for Berlioz’s Harold in Italy. Symphony goers new and old are sure to fall in love with the pieces and with their Vermont Symphony Orchestra. Flynn Center for the Performing Arts

Doors open at 6:30 pm for Musically Speaking; a pre-concert conversation with our Music Director, soloist, and other special guests. Take a closer look at the history of the music from the evening’s performance, as well as stories from our guests. Saturday we’ll be highlighting the VSO violin that was handcrafted in Vermont throughout our season, and debuting at the concert this weekend.

May 22 - Female Founders Speaker Series

The Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies and Hotel Vermont are proud to announce the Female Founder Speaker Series. Featuring female entrepreneurs from around the state, the series aims to share what it takes to start a company from the ground up. Every month, from January to June, two speakers representing a featured industry will share the story of their business, how to get started, lessons learned, where they hope to go in the future, and more.

There will also be plenty of time for Q&A and networking with appetizers provided and a cash bar in the beautiful Juniper Hall at Hotel Vermont.

The cost of the event is $15 per person, per event, and 100% of proceeds benefit a local charity or nonprofit. All are welcome, but tickets are limited so book them soon!

We will then return home to Hotel Vermont.  Each tasting stop will offer a new explosion of artisan brewing at a local level.  We will meet in the lobby at 2:45pm, and plan to return within 3.5 hours. Tours are $50 per person and include a Hotel Vermont guide, bike, and tastings at each establishment (food not included).  For questions or to reserve your spot, please email ask@hotelvt.com.

The Festival takes place on the Church Street Marketplace.

September 8 - South End Art Hop

Way back in 1993, a creative little event started that was designed to bring people to the south end to explore, get-together, see how art is made, and buy art.  The event attracted a couple hundred people, a little music, good art, and visiting about 20 studios and businesses one night in October. 

25 years later, the South End Art Hop continues to bring our community together around creativity, and provides a huge economic boost to our businesses, while hosting over 30,000 visitors on September 8-10, 2017.

 


September 9 - Pride Parade

The Pride Parade is a beloved institution here in Vermont and throughout the world. It began as a anniversary celebration of the Stonewall Riots but has evolved over time to encompass the many LGBT heroes, struggles, and victories since. Pride Parades are held at different times in different places. It begins at the south end of Church St. and ends at Battery Park where the festival is held! Marching in the parade is fun, easy, and inexpensive.
