Friday evening, the winter lights switch on Church Street and the city lights up!

Head up to Church Street on Sautrday for ice sulptures, live ice carving demos, warm winter snacks and more. Down on the Waterfront, the Penguin Plunge draws a crowd as hundreds plunge into the lake to raise money for Special Olympics.

Top off the weekend with our Ice Bar Friday and Saturday nights!

February 3 - ICE BAR!

Burlington's premier winter event is back! February 3 & 4, join us for Ice Bar 2017!

Chill with the ice sculptures under heaters or hit up the photobooth and ice games. Outdoor ice bars will feature frosty cocktails with local spirits, cider and brews. 

Warm up in our warming tent or grab some eats the food tent. Juniper Hall will feature our Vermont Tasting Room and Juniper Bar will be open for drinks!

DJ Cre8 will be keeping us warm with hot tracks inside and out.

All tickets include a welcome drink and two drink tokens.

Tickets are $45 plus service charge at flynntix.org and will be on sale January 3rd. Room packages available mid-December.

February 4 - Penguin Plunge

Supporters of Special Olympics Vermont head into Lake Champlain to raise money and awareness for the cause! The plunge begins at 9am at Waterfront Park.

February 18 - Winter is a Drag Ball at Higher Ground

Join The House of LeMay for the twenty-second annual Winter is a Drag Ball at Higher Ground. The evening will start off at 8:00 with a cabaret show in the Ballroom followed by live performances and dancing throughout the night. In the Showcase Lounge, Divas and Dudes will be performing lip-synching acts along with dance music all night long. It all benefits the Vermont People With AIDS Coalition and is always the best social event of the winter season.

This winter celebration for kids is all about the snow and the fun! There will be a bunch of indoor and outdoor activities, including free snowshoeing and xc skiing, balloon animals, face painting, meeting some animal and reptile friends, making funny faces in a photobooth, doing some crafts, music and dancing, and playing games with the Big Blue Trunk! 12:00 pm - 3 :00 pm at the Miller Recreation Center.

There will also be plenty of time for Q&A and networking with appetizers provided and a cash bar in the beautiful Juniper Hall at Hotel Vermont.

The cost of the event is $15 per person, per event, and 100% of proceeds benefit a local charity or nonprofit. All are welcome, but tickets are limited so book them soon!

August 4 - Festival of Fools

Festival of Fools is Vermont’s premier street performing, comedy, and music festival all rolled into one magical weekend in Burlington. This year’s Festival promises to carry on a nine-year tradition of offering up something for everyone, with over seventy-five shows throughout the weekend, as the Queen City becomes a symphonic landscape of slapstick, comedy, sight gags and song. The Festival takes place on the Church Street Marketplace.

September 4 - Labor Day

Happy Labor Day!


September 8 - South End Art Hop

Way back in 1993, a creative little event started that was designed to bring people to the south end to explore, get-together, see how art is made, and buy art.  The event attracted a couple hundred people, a little music, good art, and visiting about 20 studios and businesses one night in October. 

25 years later, the South End Art Hop continues to bring our community together around creativity, and provides a huge economic boost to our businesses, while hosting over 30,000 visitors on September 8-10, 2017.

 


September 9 - Pride Parade

The Pride Parade is a beloved institution here in Vermont and throughout the world. It began as a anniversary celebration of the Stonewall Riots but has evolved over time to encompass the many LGBT heroes, struggles, and victories since. Pride Parades are held at different times in different places. It begins at the south end of Church St. and ends at Battery Park where the festival is held! Marching in the parade is fun, easy, and inexpensive.

The Queen City’s annual celebration of the written word offers readings, book signings, panels, workshops, demos, family activities, and special events featuring literary luminaries from around the world and just around the corner.
